After a final grading, we are so proud to announce that we have recently passed the Cyber Security Essentials 2019 assessment.
Cyber Essentials is an official UK wide, government-backed certification that helps companies guard against the most common cyber threats and reduce your risk by at least 80%. It also allows you to demonstrate your commitment to cyber security to prospective customers.
Our RAISE team have supported a total of 82 businesses since working from home in April. Members Carole, Gary, Bal, Carol, Paula, Jim, Laura and Jess continue to offer support to new and existing clients through a range of workshops.
These SFEDI accredited business advisors provide one to one sessions for their clients, and run a number of online group sessions with workshops varying from Business Planning, Business Finance and Marketing to Social Media and Bookkeeping.
In addition, WEST’s popular Coffee & Catch Up session is a great opportunity for any woman looking for guidance in business to interact with like-minded professionals and build a stronger network.
Zhaire contacted A2B looking for support to start a business. She worked in care but decided to be a stay at home mom bringing up her three children.
Though she wanted to venture into self-employment, Zhaire wasn’t sure where to start or even what to do. She attended the RAISE online information session where her advisor gave her 1-1 support, and advised her to attend the standard RAISE workshops including Business planning, Marketing and Business Finance.
Finding them extremely useful, Zhaire had the confidence she needed to start her business. Using MS Teams to video call her advisor, she received help and was able to create a Facebook page for her business.
She later attended more business workshops to gain better business knowledge regarding Self-Assessment, Social Media and Bookkeeping. Zhaire is now in week two of her business and has already started to grow her following via her Facebook page, and is now taking orders from customers.
Now looking forward to the future and building her business, Zhaire will continue to be supported and promoted by the RAISE project, and we anticipate inviting her to future networking events.

It was a treat to see all our brilliant BRIDGES participants come along and enjoy ‘Brunch with BRIDGES.’
Taking place on Friday 14th August, the event was full of light-hearted fun and activities – including an exclusive tour of Dave’s veg patch, and our attendees sampling a range of different and delicious brunch menus and variations.
While cakes and biscuits might not have been considered the healthiest food options, everyone had a healthy dose of socialisation by being able to get to know each other, and catch up on the latest happenings at A2B.
A welcomed break during these challenging times of COVID-19.
A big CONGRATULATIONS to Sara, who’s ‘Tasty Mushroom, Bacon & Tomato Sandwich’ was voted the favourite brunch of the day!
Aside from being known as one of the most popular awareness days on the calendar, we wanted the occasion to be special this year. We dedicated National Fish & Chips Day 2020 to the food industry and their efforts during COVID19.
We say a very big THANK YOU to this amazing industry who are at the centre of every community – adapting to keep us fed when able to do so safely, and have kept us all safe by remaining closed at great sacrifice to their business.
They have all shown great resilience throughout lockdown.
It was great to bring everyone together to celebrate and enjoy this iconic British Dish, ranging from Fish & Chip shops, pub chains, restaurants and retailers, to fishermen and farmers, who provide the sustainable and natural ingredients needed to create this family favourite!
Why not contact our BRIDGES team and find out what else they do when they are not involved in Fish and Chips!
Why don’t you give us a call to see how we can help you make 2020 your year?
